State Minister Khadka makes overnight inspection on Melamchi’s progress

Kathmandu, March 15: State Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Deepak Khadka made an overnight inspection to take stock of the progress being made under the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.

State Minister Khadka’s surprise inspection comes in the wake of complaints of delay in the pipeline installation work inside the Kathmandu Valley currently being overseen by Melamchi Drinking Water Project Implementation Directorate – 2. 

The State Minister took stock of the ongoing work at Kantipath, Lazimpat and Pani Pokhari from 10 am to 11:30 am. The Raman Constructions is tasked with repairing and blacktopping the dug up road in Kantipath while the project itself is laying the pipeline in Pani Pokhari. 

Khadka instructed the concerned authorities to blacktop the dug up roads that have raised unprecedented dusts in Kathmandu. “The Ministry wants to bring the water to Kathmandu’s denizens before the onset of the Dashain festival, so work quickly,” State Minister instructed. 

The Melamchi tunnel construction has already completed in 23 km stretch out of the total of 27 km with underground pipeline laid over 41 km of the total of 61 km. The section pipe installation has completed in 550 km of the total of 670 km, Project Chief Tiresh Kumar Khatri shared. RSS
