The Islamic Resistance in Iraq carried out a drone strike targeting an Israeli military site in the occupied Golan Heights early Sunday, Syrian state news agency SANA reported.
The strike, executed using unmanned aerial vehicles, is part of the militia group’s “approach to resisting the occupation, in support of our people in Palestine and Lebanon, and in response to the massacres committed by the usurping entity against civilians, including children, women and the elderly,” according to a statement from the group.
“The Islamic Resistance confirms the continuation of operations to pound the enemy strongholds at an escalating pace,” the statement said, adding that no casualties or damage were reported.
The attack follows a series of similar incidents in recent months, as the pro-Iran Iraqi militias continue to assert their opposition to Israeli presence in disputed territories and Israeli military actions in Gaza and Lebanon.
The Golan Heights remains a critical flashpoint in the Middle East, with Israeli control over the area being widely contested. Occupied by Israel in 1967, the territory is regarded as part of Syria under international law.
